A piece of wood eaten by termites.

The termite wood button begins 
with a piece of wood buried in a 
termite colony nest.  In time, the 
insects eat the wood leaving behind
an "artistic" design. This remaining 
wood is then recovered and stabilized 
with a black polyester fill.  Slices are 
laminated onto wood or plastic and 
cut into animal shapes.  
Holes are drilled for sewing.
